I came to hear the words that I needed a hysterectomy in my oncologist office only five days after my diagnoses of uterine cancer. Of course I didn't really want to have surgery, no one does unless they have had severe problems. But I was diagnosed with uterine cancer and my surgery was not elective. I toyed with the idea of keeping my ovaries because I did not want to be thrust into menopause, but my doctor said I was at high risk for getting other female cancers (ovarian, cervical). So I agreed to have a complete hysterectomy. He told us about the DaVinci Robotic Surgery, how it was less invasive, the recovery time was less then half of tradional abdominal, and most people are feeling great within a few days. He was right on all parts, I did very well and am healing great. I would recommend this type of surgery to anyone who is a canidate. I have not had any trouble with menopause symptoms, with the exception of a few hot flashes, and night sweats. I am still not sleeping well, but that may still be my body trying to adjust to the healing from surgery. I Praise God for all that he has accomplished in my life, and give him all the glory.
