My castle visit started on 9/17 at 6am. I went to the registration desk and was informed that they did not have any of my blood work results. I was certain that they would cancel on me and I think the lady waiting on me could see the look of despair on my face. She told me not to worry and she would call the hospital where I had work done and get it straightened out. At 7:15 they led me in the the OR, my DR was by my side wheeling me down the halls right into the room - I think he was trying to get me relaxed and that worked really well. I remember talking to him and the anesthesia DR and the next thing I remember was being in recovery and someone saying that I snore really loud. My surgery lasted a little over 2 hours. The DR said everything looked good, he had to cauterize some adhesions on my ovaries, but that they did look healthy enough to keep so I still have them. He did have to put some stitches into the ligaments in my back because the tissue in that area were not strong enough or something--I am going to find out more about this when I go in for my check up. My incision didn't bother to much, but boy did my back hurt. I had my pain meds through IV push, since they did not have a PCA pump available. It took a few tries to get the correct combination to ease the pain, but finally they gave me morphine and phenergan. That seemed to work good, but it knocked me out and would wear off after about 2 & 1/2 hrs. The day after surgery I was up and walking in the halls and finally ate just liquids. My back started to feel better. The next day my DR came in and said that I was doing really good and could go home after I ate another solid meal ( I ate Cheerios that am for breakfast). Around 11am the nurse came in and took out my staples and put steri-strips on. I was a little nervous about this, I wasn't sure if just 48 hrs waslong enough for the staples to be taken out, but was assured that it was fine. After lunch they gave me 2 Vicodin and I was on my way home after 48hrs!! We live about 2hrs away from the hospital and the ride home was not fun even with all of the extra pillows I had brought along with me. I had to problems with anything and my stay was really good. I just have to remember now to go slow and not do to much.
