I arrived at the castle at 8:30. I was really shaking and scared. The nurse took my temperature and blood pressure which she said was a little high. I said oh maybe it isn't good to have the surgery then and she laughed and said its not that high. She gave me a gown and funny slippers to change into. I told her I was on my period and she said to leave undies and pad on until I went into OR. She handed me a clear plastic container for my undies.
I met my sister-in-law back in the waiting room and when she saw the container she said Oh My God your not going too put your Uterus in that for show and tell after. I nearly died laughing. I said no they are for my undies when I take them off and she said couldn't they give you a paper bag or something. Anyways I was glad she was there with her sense of humor.
We waited an hour then the Dr came and got me, I was real scared now, he said to hop up on operating table and it was so small. He promised me I wouldn't fall off. I was laying there and the Anistetic guy looked down at me and said how are you? I said I am terrified and he said don't be everything will be fine. He held my hand and started to put my IV in. Then he said he couldn't find the vein that he would have too wait until I was sleeping, he put some mask over my mouth and told me to breathe, I was trying to ask him if I would be ok one last time.....then I woke up in recovery, it all happened so fast and I thanked God that it was over.
My Dr came over and showed me the morphine pump and told me everything went fine and he would check on me in the morning.
I was up walking the next day but was a little sore. I hated the hospital beds they were so hard.
I stayed until Saturday and then I came home and all is going well, still a little uncomfortable but I guess that is normal.
I just want to thank all of you who gave me support and helped me through all of this :-)
Sue
