I had my DaVinci Hysterectomy last Weds, Dec. 9th. I freaked out right as the Dr., Anesthesiologist, and OR Nurse walked in. The Anesthesiologist told my husband to kiss me quickly, because as soon as he shot me with the meds to calm me down I wouldn't really remember anything. Sure enough....I was OUT!
I didn't know this prior, but I do remember that the Anesthesiologist told me that I would be intubated, because of the position of the surgery. You have to be tilted upside down a bit.
I woke up in the OR, because recovery was extremely busy. The Nurse told me that I had kept both of my ovaries, which was questionable, and that my right fallopian tube had to be removed, because I had a cyst in it. I later found out that I had a grapefruit sized cyst in my tube from my Dr., and looking at the area on my right side, you can tell it was there. My stomach sinks in, in that area now.
I did have minimal pain. They gave me a morphine pump, which I never used. I was and still am very sore, but it is getting better day by day. To be honest, the right side is still very tender. I don't remember the left side ever really hurting at all.
I will keep everyone updated as time goes on, but I am very happy that I am alive, uterus free, and doing well. The fact that I don't have to change a pad every five minutes is AWESOME!
I look forward to reading all of your stories as well.
