Well, I'm five days post-op and doing ok, I think.
Back in August, I had a DaVinci-assisted vaginal myomectomy, so I just had the one incision in my belly button. I recovered well, but I think the blood loss from the intramural fibroid which was prolapsing through my cervix was just too much for my body to recover from, thus the progression to the LSH.
I went to my gyn for a follow-up visit on December 10th, four months post-op from the myomectomy. After four IV iron infusions, my hemoglobin was right at 12, and my ferritin level was still at 15, which is what it had been four months before. I had also developed a vitamin D deficiency and a blood calcium deficiency. During the myomectomy my gyn discovered that I had many, like 30 or 40, small intramural fibroids. My uterus four months after the myomectomy was still the 14-15 week preg. size.
So, after we talked and discussed options and alternatives, I decided to go with the LSH. It was a smooth procedure - I have no complaints. I feel better. I do have some soreness, and I think I've developed some gallbladder issues . I am looking forward to getting back to normal next week.
