I am so sorry that I am late in posting my surgery in here. I have suffered from severe menstrual cramps since I was 14 years old. Each time I would start, I would be sick sometimes for days (vomitting and having severe cramps). My gynecologist always told me that they would get better when I had children. Someone should kick him between the legs, because he didn't know what he was talking about. Anyway, in March of 2009 I woke up with a really bad pain in my back and ended up going to the ER had was diagnosed with a kidney stone. I had to go for a CT Scan and they found the fibroids. Went for an ultrasound and they tech saw two-three fibroids that my gynecologist concerned about. Anyway, fastforward a couple of months and I noticed that my pain during my cycle was changing. I would start and would end up staying in bed off and on for three days (I would always start on a Friday...weird). So I called a new gynecologist and explained to them how I felt. She sent me for a new ultrasound and saw the fibroids but noticed that my ovaries weren't in the right spot. Since I had already had an ablation, tried birth control pills and had been taking Anaprox DS 500 mg. she suggested that I consider a hysterectomy. I asked her when could we schedule it.
The hardest part for me was preparing for the surgery. I had to drink that nasty magnesium stuff and it took about an hour to two hours before it kicked in.
I had my surgery on the 23rd of December, it was my Christmas present to myself. The surgery lasted almost 4 hours because when she got in there, she realized that I had an extremely bad case of endometriosis. My right ovary was the size of both ovaries put together and the endometriosis had attached my right ovary to my uterus and she had to repair a hernia. After the surgery, she told my husband that I should feel a whole lot better. I stayed off work for three weeks and I should have stayed off four weeks. I spent a lot of my days taking naps, that's all you want to do. It was week 5 before I really felt myself again. It has been seven weeks since my surgery and I feel amazing.
