I had many bad years before this surgery. I have tried DNC, Depo, IUD and nothing worked. So on Feb. 3, 2010
I had my surgery that took over 8 hrs but no complications just hard to get to my organs, they said, which I don't believe at all, I just think that they had some student work on me who had no experience and that is why it took so long.
I had the uterus removed only and all went okay until a week after the surgery when the blood/brown discharge started to look almost green/yellow and had a really bad odor. So I called my doctor and he said all is fine and normal since I have no fever or real bad back pain. I did not know that I actually had a fever but I could not check without a thermometer.
By 7pm that day I had a hot shower and went to my bed, to find out that I started bleeding really bad. I called my doctor's office and it was closed, I told the answering service to page him and they never got a hold of him. I looked at my called id and found his personal cell number and I called him. I did not care anymore if he will be upset which he was not, and he told me to go to ER since things don't look good with me.
The doctors in the ER have never seen anything like that before and had to call 3 other OB/GYN doctors to see what they should do. Later that nite had a full body CT, all the blood work and they found that I actually had a large infection on top of the cervix, but since it was already Saturday morning I had to wait until Monday to have some more CT done but not before I was put on 3 strong antibiotics and all the pain killer that you can think of.
Monday morning came and I went for another full body CT since the radiologist said that he can get to the infection thru my lower left side on my back and remove it. He was wrong, he missed the spot and went all the way in my vagina.
During the days after the surgery, the infection had to come out some how and it did by breaking my cervix and leaving a whole of over 1 inch wide and that is how the radiologist went straight in my vagina thru that whole. The tub that he placed inside my body was removed a day later since it did not do anything, and by that time the infection was almost gone from what they saw on the 3rd CT scan that day.
Right now it has been 10 days since the infection started and I am home feeling much better, taking 2 antibiotics and one pain killer. All is fine, white blood cells are going back to normal and I am glad I had the surgery, I'm just not happy how the whole thing went down. I requested to have all the papers done on me during this whole surgery but I have not received it yet.
My body is getting better/stronger every day, I don't do laundry or lift any thing heavy. My oldest son does all the driving and shopping and at times he gets mad at me for walking so much around the house,LOL, but I am only 40 and I have lots of energy!!!
If I waited until Monday the 15th of February 2010 like my doctor instructed me to do, I will have been in BIG TROUBLE!!! the infection would have spread to all of my organs and who knows what or where will I be now. Thanks to my strong body and me calling and not taking NO for an answer all is going to be okay.
Learn from my experience and see, call or go the the hospital if something does not feel wright to you. Trust your instincts and take charge no matter what. Some doctors just don't know that things can be wrong even if it looks okay in the outside.
I wish you all a easy recovery and take care.
