Well I cant believe it has been a week already since my TAH with removal of ovaries and falopian tubes unexpectedly.
I was scheduled for 7:30am on the 17th and went in right on time. It was interesting because I wasent given anything until I was in the actual O.R. so I was able to see a little of what goes on in there. I woke up in recovery in immense pain, but it was quickly taken care of. Unfortunatley they had no beds in the hospital to put me in so I was in recovery until 5pm thinking this is no way fun, I received great care in there but the beds are not the most comefortable things in the world.
My first night was good I had a great nurse and a great CNA, they took very good care of me. My first day went off well the catheter came out about 10am and the morphine pump and the nurse said lets go for a walk, that wasent to fun but I did make it to the hallway and down 3 rooms before I had to quit. I walked a few more times during the day and it got easier and easier.
My second day however was not good at all I was supposed to go home and that wasent going to happen, my Dr. came in and said you need to pass gas before going home and my bowels were completely quiet, no amount of walking was getting them going, so he perscribed a suppository and that got some air passing, but at 4pm I still hadnt passed enough gas and was in some major discomfort so they gave me another one, which fortunatley got things completely going. I spent that night and was released Sat. morning.
I have been doing very well since coming home I was able to climb the stairs the first day but I didn't come back down the stairs until the next day.
I havent regretted my decision one bit and I'm looking forward to healing completely.
