I had the DaVinci hysterectomy on Feb. 22nd, my uterus and both ovaries were removed. A couple of days after surgery I started having pain in my calf. On the third night my calf was hurting so bad that I had to get up and put an ice pack on it. I called the doctor yesterday and she told me to get to the ER ASAP. When I got to the ER they ran a Doppler over my legs. A Doppler is basically an ultra sound. About an hour later the doctor came in and told me I had a clot in my calf. Because of the clot they had to inject Arixtra, which is a blood thinner, in my tummy and I also had to take a Coumadin pill. For the next week I have to get a shot once a day in my tummy and take the pills once a day. I also have to go to an anticoagulation clinic 3 times a week and get my blood checked. They said it would probably be a couple of months before I can quit any of the medicine. I wanted to post this because clotting was not one of the things on my radar at all. If you have pain in your legs after surgergy make sure and tell you doctor right away.
