Ask A Doctor

I was nervous on the day of my surgery10-11-01.Got to the castle for check in at 10am. I was fine until they came to take me to the holding room. Said bye to my hubby in tears of course, thinking maybe I don't really need to be having this done now. In the holding room they gave me the standard operating room garb: nice blue hat and stretchy foot covers. So there I sat all suited up waiting for my name to be called. Needless to say I sat there awhile, the room filled up fast 8 patients all waiting. My doctor finally came in saying he was held up and he's sorry. The anethsethiologist(don't think its spelled right) came to see me and he said the doctor wants me to have a general. He wasn't concerned about my high bp just me having asthma. He had them give me a treatment, and said I should do fine. Finally they called my name whoa I was scared. The operating room iself was cold. I was moved to the table and hooked up to the monitors. Last thing I remember was the nurses talking to my dr. on how to position my left arm. I woke up in my room hours later. My surgery which my doc figured would take 1hr 30min ended up taking 3hrs. He said I was full of scar tissue and inflammation on top of my huge fibroid. When I talked to him the day after surgery he said he doesn't know how I was getting around everyday with that mess in me! I know now I should have done it sooner!!!!
