Well, let's see....I arrived at the Castle, 18 October, 2001. It was a beautiful Thursday morning. My BF, mother , his mother, my brother, my aunt, and my daughter (via cell phone),about every half hour. We arrived at 8:20 am, only to be rushed through admissions, told they were waiting on me upstairs, and then asked to wait because of complications with the first surgery,(not my doctor's, whew). Anyway, 15 minutes later everyone says their I love you's and my BF and I are taken to the holding area while they put my IV of happy juice in. I remember him telling me I love you and the next thing I'm telling him I have to pee really bad.
This is when I realize it's 2 hours later and my cath. is making me feel like I need to go. Yeah, it's working just fine, but made me feel like I had to go real bad. My BF is laughing a nervous giggle, telling me it's all over and I'm fine. OK, the rest of the day is a real blur because of the morphine. I awake again at 9:00pm everyone is gone but BF. I told him to go home and get some sleep, I will be alright. The nurse came in with a shot, and that's all she wrote.
Day 2. 19 October,2001. It is student nurse day at the hospital. This is great, these people are still at that nursing stage where they still care about the patient. The little girl I had was my daughter's age. She helped me with my bath, get into my nightgown and to the chair so they could change my bed. After breakfast the DR came and told them to take my cath. out and to make me drink. What a relief!! I was never so glad to pee on my own. Just make sure you drink lots, which I did. My bf brought me some apple juice and that meade me have a good bm, too. He is always thinking ahead like that. Anyway, after the cath. came out I was unstoppable... 2 walks after lunch, 3 after dinner, and 1 solo trip before I went to bed. No sleep this night, lady in the next bed had a gastric bypass and was very sick all night, nurses in and out until her DR took her back to the OR with complications. Turns out she was the one that made me wait before surgery. So, my opinion, if at all possible, get a private room, you'll sleep so much better!!!
DAy3, AM. Get up, have a sponge bath, because my DR is on his way with release papers. BF takes everything to the car. Then comes to get me. DR shakes my hand and says that all his patients should do as good as me, and then I'm free!!! I come home, we have lunch and We all nap. The rest is "hystery", HAHA!
AMEN!
Take care and I hope yours is as uneventful as mine!!!
