Hello Sisters!!

Just wanted to give an update on how things went with my trip to the castle. We got to the hospital around 5:45am. They took me back to the pre-surgery area about 6am and I had to give a urine sample, put gown on, put ted hose on, and get an IV. Then about 6:30am I was taken to the surgery waiting area. This is where I got real nervous. I could have gotten something from the anesthesiologist to calm my nerves down, but I still had a question for my Doctor.

She did not show up til about 7:30am. After I spoke to her I was ready for some medicine to calm me down, but did not get it until they wheeled me into the OR and I was put on the OR table about 7:45am. As soon as they put my arms out beside me, I was out. I don't remember a thing.

Then I woke up in recovery about 12noon hurting pretty bad. Whatever pain medicine they were giving me was not helping. I was told that as soon as I got back to my room that I would get a morphine pump started and feel better. Got to my room between 1-1:30pm. It took them a while to get my morphine pump going, but once they did I felt so much better.

The next morning (Tuesday) they took my cath out and stopped my morphine pump and I got up and took a shower. I walked off and on that day. After the morphine was discontinued they put me on lortab to control the pain. I would have been released the next day (Wednesday), but I started getting a fever and I had not passed any gas or bm by this point. So they did some bloodwork and everything came back fine. I started to pass gas Wednesday night, but no bm.

Finally on Thursday I was able to have a bm and was released from the hospital that morning.

Progress has definately been slow, but is coming along. More than anything is the loopiness I feel while on these meds. Not only can I not think straight, I feel like my ears have been magnified 10x and every sound is somewhat bothersome. I don't remember feeling this way after my c-section in '09.

Anywho, today has been a pretty good day. My Mom has helped me out tremedously today. She cooked me breakfast and lunch, as well as taking care of the kiddos. This evening has kinda been a little tough. I have a burning pain on my left lower abdomen and not sure why. Hopefully it's just healing pains.

I have tons more to talk about, but need to go now as I am getting kinda dizzy and sick to my stomach. Congrats to all that have had surgery and have made it home from the castle. Good luck with your recovery!
