So glad I was a candidate for a daVinci hysterectomy. I have 4 tiny (8 cm sized) incisions that are on their way out. I had everything taken out, ovaries, uterus, cervix (through the vagina). I am back to my old self and feel great. I am officially in menopause, though, but the only thing I'm noticing is a mild night sweat here and there.

I had a background of heavy periods which prompted me to see my gyn. who tried to put me on birth control pills to lessen the bleeding. I stopped them after 8 days because they made me sick. Then I had an ultrasound done to determine the cause of the heaviness which showed that I had a thickening in the lining of my uterus and a little "blip" that needed further checking. I had a D&C to get cleaned out and had a biopsy of that "blip" which came back showing that I had complex atypical hyperplasia - something my dr. did not expect at all. The red flag went up for the possibility of cancer and she recommended me to a gyn. oncologist for a hysterectomy. Luckily, this new dr. had performed hundreds of robotically assisted hysterectomies with the daVinci, and once she told me about the process and the recovery time, I was sold. I only had 3 weeks from the time I had my D&C to the date of my hysterectomy and it was a blessing to get it over with. No time to waver in my decision and now I'm so confident that I made the right one that I want to share it with anyone else who may be undecided about this daVinci procedure.

Hope this helps! Good luck and know your hystersisters are here for you! I don't know what I would have done without this site. It got me through from beginning to end and now I am so glad I can help others.
