I had a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy (TAH) a year ago and have coccyx pain. Is this related to the surgery? There's nothing else going on with me so it's the only thing I think it could be. If you think it is, what can be done about it?

Answered by Keita Sakon M.D.

As we don't dissect/operate anywhere close to the coccyx, I doubt that it is related to the surgery.

The responses in the "Ask a Doctor" articles are provided by M.D./Surgeons with credentials in their linked profiles. The HysterSisters.com staff thanks the doctors for their participation and reminds all readers to discuss their medical concerns with their personal physicians for specific information about their health choices, as this is in no way intended to take the place of members consulting with their own physicians.
