My Story

My story starts when my middle son was a year old. He is now 7 years old. I went to the Health Department to be put on Birth Control pills. When the pap came back they informed me that I had clamidia . After going threw pure hell with the Health Department I went to my Ob and was told that in fact I didn’t have clamidia that what I had was HPV. This was the reason my pap had come back bad. I under went the cryo procedure that the Dr. recommended. A year later I my pap again came back bad and this time I was lucky enough to get a Dr. that was even WORSE than the Health Department!!! This Dr. Jeclel as I like to call him recommended that I undergo laser surgery to remove the pre cancerous cells that now were all over my cervix, vaginal walls, labia major and minor. Ok ok I can do this….I had the surgery and I guess it went ok, I never saw Dr. Jeclel nor did my husband. I was sent home with a script for a cream (A chemo agent) and orders on how to use it and how to protect my self while using the cream. Almost a month went by when disaster hit. (Well what I considered a disaster.) My vigina had healed closed. I called my Good Dr. (Called is the nice term, I screamed at everyone on the phone until he finally came on the line!) He was such a GOOD Dr. He got me right in and at that moment I told him that he would be the only one in the office that I would ever see again. (In his office it is customary to see all 8 doctors in the office.) After that I finished with the cream and everything went well for another year. I had my youngest son and again I informed the Good Dr. that if Dr. Jeckel was on call the night of the delivery that I would have the baby in the parking lot. The good Lord was watching over both of us that night as my Good Dr. was on call! A year after having my youngest son I went in to have my tubes tied. Not a problem right. Wrong. During surgery the dr. tore open a scar that had not healed properly. He fixed it and sent me on my merry way. When I came to in the recovery room with DH standing there I was in soo much pain. When I leaned up the scar tore open again. I wound up going in for emergency surgery to stop the bleeding and repair the scar. After that, I was in pain during all of my periods and would have the worst pain that just shot threw my body. The Good Dr. thought that it might be adhesions and decided to take a look. Ok no problem Good Dr. is here and he will do a good job. I had the surgery and he found nothing other than a polyp. This brought no relief. By this time I was not able to stand for longer than 10 min with out having a large amount of pressure. When it came time to have my pap this year I call in only to find out that my Good Dr. had retired. However his nurse whom I fondly call my Good Nurse was still working in the office. She set me up with an apt. to have my pap. It had already been a very bad month because my Grandmother had died. Two days after the funeral I come home to find a message on my machine. It was the Dr. Office telling me that I needed to call them back to disuse my Pap. I lost it!!!! I called back that day only to find out that the person I needed to speak with was not in the office. I told the receptionist that I did not care who I spoke with just to put someone on the phone who could tell me how bad it was. That’s the first time I spoke with Ann. She let me know what the results were and set me up for an Apt. with in the next few days. Now all I could think of was how horrible my visit was with the Health Dept. I no longer had my Good Dr. to turn to. I went in to see the new Dr. who happens to be my Good Nurses Dr. He then tells me after taking a biopsy and getting the results that I should have a LEEP procedure done. I am thinking “Is this ever going to stop?” I cam home and researched everything on the net that I could find about the LEEP. I spoke with other women whom had gone threw the procedure. I found that women with HPV their cancer returned even after having the procedure done. I already have soo much scar tissue and this would only add even more. I made a list of questions and called the nurse Ann for her to give to the Dr. Nurse Ann called me back the next day and scheduled an appointment for me to come see the dr. the next day. It seems that my questions made the Dr. think again about doing the procedure. I went in and he looked me over one more time, turns to me and tells me. You’re going to need a hysterectomy. Is that ok with you? DUH!! I floated out of the office that day. My surgery date set.
