I had an ablation procedure done five months ago and have had on/off bleeding ever since. In the last week I started flooding once or twice a day using 2-3 super tampons in an hour with huge clots. No cramps, just a solid ache in my lower abdomen. Anyone else have any issues like this post-ablation?

An endometrial ablation is used to treat dysfunctional uterine bleeding. An endometrial ablation is a procedure that destroys the endometrial lining of the uterus. It is accomplished with a laser, with heat, with electricity, with freezing or with microwave. An endometrial ablation can be done in a doctor's office or as an out-patient in a medical facility. The procedure is typically done with a local or spinal anesthesia.

Most women will have reduced periods following an endometrial ablation and up to half will stop having periods. After an endometrial ablation, younger women are more likely to continue to have periods and may need a repeat procedure.

If you are experiencing a change in your bleeding, be sure and make an appointment with your doctor to discuss your concerns. You may choose to have another ablation or choose another treatment option to deal with your increased endometrial bleeding.
