Ask A Doctor
I'm two years post hysterectomy and I'm feeling sad. I have just been diagnosed with endometriosis for the second time and although the pain is nothing to what it was before, it still hurts! I'm discouraged that my hysterectomy did not fix what was wrong with me. I'm discouraged that I'm still dealing with health issues. Is there anyone who understands my sadness?
You are not alone.
It seems you have two issues that you are dealing with right now. Your medical health with your diagnosis of endometriosis and your emotional health with your sadness. Now is a good time to seek a doctor who specializes in endometriosis to understand your options for treatment. A specialist may have other choices for you. Stop by the HysterSisters area for Endometriosis Support will also help provide additional information and support for you through your health issues.
For your feelings of sadness, journaling is a good way of expressing yourself. Many of our HysterSisters.com members journal daily to manage their feelings of sadness and blues. Some women have reported that getting a pet like a dog is helpful. Others report that finding a new hobby or finding new places to develop new friendships was their "doorway" to rediscover sunny skies again. Finding friends who understand goes a long way of feeling you are not alone.
And, if you find that you are feeling sad for too many days, be sure and seek the listening ear of a good professional counselor.
