I really feel at my wits end. One year after having a hysterectomy and oophorectomy, I discovered that I actually should not have even had a hysterectomy. I am 33 years old and feel like I am 70. I know I can not undo the past but what is wrong with me? After my hysterectomy I felt (feel) so fatigued, moody and had (have) no libido what-so-ever. My new GYN has tried me on 3 different types of HRT. The one I am on currently has helped with the hot flashes but I still have very little sex drive-and I have major vaginal dryness!! The part that is the worse is the fatigue. I'm really struggling with regret and confusion. Any suggestions for me?
Regret is such a difficult thing to face your future and having to manage. You are not alone.
There are things you can do that may help you:
1. Make an appointment with a doctor to discuss your hormone replacement therapy. It sounds like your dosages are still not right for you. Having the right prescription (both type and dosage) can do worlds to helping you feel better. Make sure you mention your lack of libido and your vaginal dryness. There are vaginal estrogen prescriptions that may help you with your dryness. And there are testosterone products that could help you with fatigue and low libido. You won't know until you talk to your physician and try different HRT products.
2. Make an appointment with a counselor if you find you are feeling blues, moody, angry and unable to manage the regret you are feeling. With the right counselor, you will be able to face your future with your head up and your face forward.
Making sure both you are taking care of both your physical, medical needs and your emotional needs is the key to hope for your future. We are cheering for you!
