Ask A Doctor
I just can't move on since my surgery. I became so severly depressed that I had come to depend on my pain medication to make me "feel" better. I lost my job, my boyfriend, my friends and some of my family is really fed up with me. I am slowly trying to come off of the pills but let me tell you it is hell. I was having some more pain so I ended up getting a larger amount of them from a different doctor. It has gotten so bad I am thinking of suicide on a daily basis. Can someone help me?
Depression is a unkind, mean companion. It settles in to pretend to comfort you and then whispers bad things to make you feel worse.
First of all, call 911 or drive yourself to the Emergency Room at the closest hospital. What you are describing is a medical condition that is an emergency and needs to be addressed by a doctor.
Starting with a doctor and asking for help is the perfect place for you to begin your journey back to health. When you are talking to a doctor, you must be perfectly honest about the pain medication you are taking and how many you have. In most cases, while the pain medication makes you "feel" better, they may be the culprit that is sustaining your illness. Having the help of a caring, medical professional will help you get your life back on track.
Take steps. Tell someone. Go to a hospital. Surround yourself with friends who care.
Do not spend another day thinking about help. Get your shoes on. Pick up your purse. Drive yourself to the hospital.
There is hope with the sunrise!
