To all my Sisters: I read a reply to a post last night where one of my dear sisters wrote that she no longer felt like a girl. It struck me hard at first because, until then, I had never considered that and I had to check with myself to see if I, too, felt the same way. I do not and I will tell you why later.

Then, I became very sad at the thought that many of you might be out there not feeling like a girl or a woman anymore. I pondered it all night and sent an email to our dear Ruby today asking where I could post my thoughts about this. I didn't want to use the wrong forum to do so. She said I could post it here.

I do not feel any less feminine than I did before and I so hope that no one else does or will anymore. You see, our femininity does not lie in our uterus. Our uterus is a beautiful, wonderful part of our body and we honor that, but it is just that....a part of our body which is made up of so much more.

I can only speak for myself and I hope some of this rings true for all of you. I am a woman because my soul is soft. I can give and receive love in a special way that God gave only to females. I can smile softly and make another person feel warm inside just by the look in my eyes. I am wise from my experiences and triumphs; battles won and lost. I am a daughter and a sister and wife. These are gifts bestowed only to a woman.

I can comfort people with warm, loving, open arms. I have the beautiful features that God gives women like soft skin and curvy places. I can be silly and still play "make believe" with a girlfriend or take turns doing each other's hair and make-up. Just getting to wear make-up....woo hoo!

I can cry over a "chick flick" and thoroughly enjoy the ridiculousness of and totally relate to the roles of the women portrayed in it. I can look at a stranger and know what she is feeling and I can give her a hug if it's welcome. I can laugh, I can cry, I can sing.

OK, I'll stop here, I promise. But I want to share some synonyms I found in an online Thesaurus. I hope we can all find ourselves in these terms. How about, if you are so inclined, you reply with what makes you feel like a girl or a woman? And, if you don't feel it, share that too. That's what all of us women are here for!
