Ask A Doctor
I can’t find my “G-spot” anymore. Was it destroyed during my hysterectomy?
The “G-spot” is not a medically recognized part of the female anatomy. Many women, however, have a spot on the anterior (front) wall of the vagina that they report is highly sensitive and contributes to sexual arousal and satisfaction.
Depending on what kind of hysterectomy you had, you may indeed have been affected by your surgery. For example, it may have been removed entirely, or the nerves leading to it may have been severed if you had cystocele repair at the same time as your hysterectomy. If the latter is the case, it is possible for the nerves to regenerate weeks or months later, returning sensation to your vagina. But nerves do not always regenerate, and you may never recover feeling in that area.
Another possibility is that adhesions or scar tissue could have grown over your G-spot during healing. If this is the case, your physician may be able to perform corrective surgery to clear the area and allow you greater sensation and sexual satisfaction from stimulation. It is certainly worth asking your doctor to take a look and offer options to consider if recovering this aspect is important to you.
