I had a hysterectomy July 2009. I only had one ovary, and it was left intact. I was started on climara patches shortly after surgey as I started having symptoms of estrogen deficiency. I have since gained 30 pounds, have joined WW and have only lost 2 pounds in 3 weeks! I am 40 years old now.

Weight gain is common after menopause (surgical or natural) and tends to be in the belly. The "menopot" as one of my patients called it! Eating healthy is essential, but so is exercise. My patients that eat right and exercise maintain a healthier weight.
