Ask A Doctor

I am 23 with one child. I have suffered from endo for years and have went through thick and thin with my uterus and ovaries since receiving my period at 13. At 16 I became very ill with TSS (Toxic shock syndrome) and since have always had to be very careful using light tampons and only leaving them in for an hour or two to decrease my chance of getting it again since it almost killed me the first time. I had a lap for endo and cysts when I was 17 and was told I would probably need an early hysterectomy at some point. My husband and I have been together since we were 14 and 15 so as soon as we got engaged at 19 we decided to try for a baby. I KNOW...I KNOW....we decidided when we were "engaged" not married! But we knew what we wanted and were getting married anyway. So we started trying but nothing was happening!!! Every PT I took came back negative! We tried for months and then decided that maybe it just wasn't going to happen. 7 months later...I was having some trouble with my period (as usual) and was prescribed progesterone to jump start my cycle. The nurse urged me to take a PT before I took my first dose and being 100% positive that I wasn't pregnant, I took the test. Pregnant! I was shocked! And just couldn't believe it! I was really pregnant! Luckily, I had a very easy pregnancy and delivery and welcomed a beautiful, healthy baby girl into mine and my husbands world! But not long after she was born, my problems started up again only to be worse than before! So on my 23rd birthday after a few weeks of alot of crying and talking with the family we decided that the best thing for my health and our family would be for me to have a hysterectomy. And just 10 days later I did it! I had my cervix and uterus removed but kept both my tubes and ovaries! I am now 5 days post op and feeling pretty good!
I hope everyone else has as much success as I've had recovering! Although, being so young I am very sad that I can't give my Hubby anymore babies! I would have loved to have another one or maybe a few more! But I guess it just wasn't in the cards for us.
But Im lucky to have what I have!

Blessings to all you other ladies!
