I am sorry I havent posted sooner on my post op but I had my abdominal hyst back in May. The other methods werent an option as they needed to make sure that they got all of the problems out....I had 3 diagnosis as for what was going on with me. It all boiled down to pre cancerous cells. I wanted the laporoscopy or vaginal but my dr said if I wanted that then he would have to refer me out as he couldnt and wouldnt with an open heart do the less invasive since he was concerned about the cancer starting up. But I have to tell you, even with a full open abdominal I had one of the shortest recovery times my dr and his PA had seen in a very long time, I had so much enegry and even though I had to wait 4 weeks to do full activity I was ready to go, go, go within 2 weeks. My hospital stay was a lot shorter than I expected. I had been prepared for the worst and longest healing (I am one of those "princess and the pea" types of people that doesnt handle pain very well) and was very pleasantly surprised that it was pretty much a walk in the park. We even had command central upstairs in the extra bedroom next to our room with a mini fridge with food, my coffee maker, etc and in our room we even moved my desktop computer up there and set it up so I could play my computer game and do other things on the computer in bed and within one week post op I had my hubby move evertyhing back downstairs. I know that this may not be the same results for everyone but for those of you that are contemplating having one and are scared I am here to tell you that as long as you listen to your dr and such it might not be so bad for you. I only had one support person that was physically here and thats my hubby so I am very grateful for him. If I were to have gone through it alone it may have been a little different. So if you are one of those that has to go it alone and have some friends that could help prepare the house for you then ask for their help. Its amazing how much even just the little things that you do to prepare can hep make all of the difference.
