Ask A Doctor

I have been very fortunate to have a great hysterectomy experience.

I found out in October of 2011 that I had fibroids and possible adynomyosis. I'd been suffering from heavy periods and painful cramps for years, and it was only getting worse.

When my doctor told me a robotic hysterectomy was my best option, I was scared to death and a bit resistant. even though I was 42 and done having kids. My doctor recommended I come to HysterSisters and do some research on my own before we made the decision. I spent a great deal of time - practically obsessing - on researching the various methods, what to expect, etc...

When we met again at my next appointment to talk, I had my mind made up to do it "and get it over with". Everything I learned through HysterSisters really helped me make peace with my fears.

Six weeks later, I had my surgery. The surgery was considered "out patient" even though I stayed for a "23-hour observation". Everything went exactly the way it should have, and I was released from the hospital the following morning. I took a total of 5 weeks off work and that gave me plenty of time to recover and get my energy back up to speed and get through the holidays.

I saw the doctor 4 weeks post op and again at 8 weeks and everything has healed just the way its supposed to. I have had no troubles since my surgery and I am extremely happy with the results.
