Ask A Doctor
Hi, I had my TAH on january 5, 2012. I won't forget that date. I went thru menopause very young, started about 30 or so, of course it lasted a long time going thru it. periods finally stopped, I had the usual night sweats, hot flashes etc. but, over the years had experienced occasional spotting. It was just an annoyance for the most part, the worst part was the sore breasts, like I was breast feeding again! but after the spotting would stop all would be well again. The dr. took out a polyp about five years ago, I think we both thought that would fix it all, and it did for a few years... but then my old friend returned complete with sore breasts again.. sigh... I finally developed spotting that lasted a month so I went back to dr. I was promptly hit with a one two punch, first she thought I had colon cancer and pre cancer was found in the uterus.. great. Had a colonoscopy all was well there.. praise the Lord! but, I needed a complete hysterectomy. which occured Jan 5, 2012. I actually thought i was going to die during the recovery time and Im not a drama queen. I am now almost nine weeks post op.. I feel pretty good now. a little bit of bladder spasm here and there, but Im doing pretty much everything I did before, and I really was starting to wonder if that would ever be possible again.. So, if you are discouraged thinking all is lost of your past life, don't despair! It really DOES get better. I have had a wonderful church family praying for me as well I have to say God has been very good to me. by the way the pre cancer was actually microscopic cancer that pathology found, so again Praise The Lord! PS I have to say thank you to all my hyster sisters! what an encouragement you all have been and a very present help in time of trouble. Theres nothing like someone "whos been there"
