I have a hysterectomy scheduled, and just realized I will be starting my period around then. Can I still have surgery if I am on my period?

This happens frequently. It will not affect the hysterectomy or your recovery at all.

Coincidentally, many women have told me that just before their hysterectomy they have "the worst" period. I always find that interesting. --> Does the uterus or body know it will be the last period so it makes it an excessively painful one? hmmm....
