I only had light bleeding while I was in hospital for two days after a complete hysterectomy with ovaries removed. I did not have any visible bleeding for 6 weeks, but after I had my 6 week post op checkup, I have been having light bleeding for at least 5 days now. It isn't very much, but hasn't stopped yet and want to know if this is of concern. My doctor has been out of office, and so far no one has been any help.

Thanks for your question. It sounds like you may still have some sutures dissolving or the top of the vaginal cuff has just a little bit of healing left to go. This is very common and usually not a problem at all.

In my practice, I will recheck a vaginal exam again for persistent spotting at 8-9 weeks post op.

Hope this helps.
