Ask A Doctor

I had my surgery two years ago, and I still have discomfort and pain at my scar. I had two c-sections before having the abdominal hysterectomy. After my surgery, I had an infection at my incision that put me in the hospital. I am still in pain, and I am concerned there was more to go wrong with my surgery. Is it normal to still have scar pain?

Reply by Geoffrey Cly, MD

It is not normal to still have pain at this point. A couple recommendations to ask your doctor about:

- Trying Physical Therapy
- Is there scar tissue from the infection that is causing the pain.
- Would a nerve block injection help?

Hope this helps. Dr Geoff Cly
