Dear sisters: THE WAITING REALLY IS THE WORST Had my surgery June 6, 2000 so its been about a week and 3 days. I'm doing wonderful and still thinking I should expect a downfall but praying I don't. My trip to the hospital was calm and quite because I had taken 2 sleeping pills the nite before and had gotten my second good nites sleep in months of worrying. My surgery was 1/2 hour longer because of endrometrois that dr didn't know about so had to clear out. I arrrived to my room and was lost to my family LOL they were told I would be in a different room so was waiting there for hour and half. Finally my DD went to desk and demanded to know where her mom was. LOL Anyway the nurse made the desk nurse come down and appolize to family. The next event was waking up with my first and hopefully only HOT FLASH. The pharmacy had forgotten to get my patch to the floor and the nurse hadn't gotten it on me as the doc had requested right after surgery. After these first not too serious mistakes everything else went wonderful. I had a wonderful roommate which I think really helps in healing process. The nurses loved our room because we were both getting around and not having much pain and didn't require at lot of attention, although they always were there at least once an hour checking on us. Probably my biggest complaint was waiting to pass gas so I could have some solid foods. This thank god happened about 8:30 Wed evening so a nurse went to cafeteria at 10:30 and got me large turkey sandwich it was heavenly. The doctor released me to leave after I had eaten dinner on thursday nite at 6;00 P.m Friday I had to go back to her office to have staples removed and tape put on. Which I get to remove today after a week. Going to let dh have honors. My hospitol stay was wonderful and everyone was great. Home is getting boring. But I'm eating good and resting lots so as to heal properly. I did stop Vicodin Friday nite when got home because I was so miserable with bowels not moving and was told that was major binder. Did have to use stool softeners and still using every other day. That's seems to be my biggest complaint going POO POO. LOL All in all I feel great and looking forward to getting out of house tonite (been week at home) for PIZZA. LIW good luck and the waiting is really the worst. LOVE TO ALL thanks for all the wonderful help from the sisters at this site.
