Hi everyone, My name is Renee, i am 25 yrs old, from Ohio, mother of 4. I had a TVH on 5/12/2000 due to infections in the uterus and constant bleeding, my GYN thought it would improve my quality of life, so i was all for it.The surgery went well, i was only in the hospital overnight, wasnt in alot of pain(thankfully), recovery seemed to be going great! At 7 days post op i developed a fever and a terrible constant pain in my lower left side, i couldnt eat or sleep, i just cryed, so when morning came i called my doctors office(saturday morning), the awnsering service told me my doc was out of town so she paged another doc from the practice, i was scared, but he was very comforting on the phone, he told me to head on into the ER. They were expecting me when i got there, they gave me an ultra sound which revealed my worst fear-INFECTION!!!!!!! and let me tell you, i had alot of it. They admitted me(5 hours later) and started me on IV antibiotics, and pain meds, boy did i need those. My fever keep going up and down, the Cat Scan showed 3 absesses, all the size of grapefruit, one bursted while i was at the hospital, the smell was the worst thing i ever smelt,, it was making me sick to my stomach. After 5 days my doc returned and he finally let me leave the hospital, sent home with oral antibiotics, my children where so happy i was home( as was my husband and I).I seemed to be doing well until the next night, i was rushed back to the ER, another absess burst, and i thought i was dying, the pain was the worst thing i ever felt(and i gave birth to 4 kids with huge heads..lol)They admitted me immediately, and gave me 3 shots of Morphine for pain, about 3 hours later(2a.m.) i was finally asleep and my hubby returned home, later that morning i went into the OR to have surgery to drain the absesses, unfortunally, he didnt get it all out, i spent 6 additional days in the hospital. I returned home on IV antibiotics, i have a nurse comming to my home 3 times a day to give me the meds, it sucked. After 3 days i developed a terrible reaction, i had a bad itchy rash all over my body, we had to stop those meds right away.I was miserable, the infection messed up my entire digestive system, so i could hardly eat and had bad diareah. The new oral antibiotics made me vomit violently, so i was taken off of those too, and switch to a coated brand, it has been 3 weeks now and i am still taking the antibiotics, i have a week left to go, i am still feeling pretty crappy, i had to go see a specialist today about the constany bloody diareah, and i am having a colonopsy(sp) in 2 weeks, that infection really did a number on my body. But i am alive, and someday i am sure i will be well. Good luck to all
