My total hysterectomy with a bi-lateral sapingo-ooporectomy was 6/1/00. I had an abdominal, cause I had huge, I mean huge Fibroids, years of endo, and badly scared tubes/ovary involvement. I arrived at the hospital at 530a and the pre-op went smoothly. In fact, the anesthesiologist was the very same lady that presided over a previous surgery I had in 1983 and was shocked yet pleased that I remembered her. This could have contributed to how well she did my Morphine block to the spine! Anyway, it went beautifully, and I was up after surgery taking little baby steps later that night. Very little discomfort, which was BECAUSE I had the morp.block.
The next night was only bad for 4 hours, because I couldn't pass gas, I belched my way into throwing up aftr some very bad nausea. But they fixed me up good; so 4 hours out of 4 days was no big deal.
I didn't have any flashes, and still don't think I've had any to speak of. I'm so cold-natured, it really wouldn't faze me.
I've got some "left sided" stitching pain. But I walk every day, and drink alot of water, eat well. Ladies, rest, be good to yourself, and know that the bad gas and the pain that may come and make you hurt bad, WILL eventually go away!
I feel great overall, and would kick up my heels if it didn't bust an incision.
