I suffer will Chron's Disease which deals with the intestines. I noticed that everytime my cycle comes on or is about to come on I would have flare ups. It would be so bad until I would have to go to the emergency they would have to give me something for pain which would be demerol and phenegram (for nausea) the pain would be so bad my hands would ball up to a fist and nothing would be able to release them but pain medication. I started to talk to both of my doctors (gyn and gastro doctors) One said that it has nothing to do with the other (gastro). But I was not willing to accept that. I started looking for answers everywhere. Finally after my last flare-up of Chron's which put me out of work for 2 months lost over 15 pounds couldn't hold anything down. So I talk to my gyn doctor and he told me I had a colasped uterus I had already had laprascopic surgery 2x and a tubal ligation. Needless to say when he told me that my uterus was leaning against my dueodnum which could be contributing to the spasm that I was having an LAVH was welcome news to me. The decison was not hard for me. I had my surgery on 3-22-02 I was terrified I cried when they wheeled me down the hall to the surgery room. But there was one nurse who said some soothing words to me before they started on me. When I got back to my room I couldn't remeber a thing but the pain was TERRIBLE ! But once the pain medication started kicking in I was fine. My home recovery was even better because I was in my own bed and could relax a bit better. Finding hystersisters was a GOD SEND! I read some of the most terrifying stories of hysterectomies until I cancel my first surgery date. But I put in a search for pre-op hyster surgery and the first thing I saw was hystersisters and it help me so much until I literally started crying because it was informative, funny, and motivational. I was less scared and armed with all the question I needed I actually printed the question page for my pre-appt. I log on everyday to see if theres anything new or check and see if anyone is going through the same thing I'm going through. And 99 times out of 100 someone puts it out there and my question is answered. So thanks to hystersisters. And a special thanks to a person that had surgery the same day I did (Candy) she was very helpful in calming me down when I received last minute news at my pre-admit testing she calm my ruffled feathers and told me what to do. I am now back at work and still recovering (taking it real easy). But I feel so much better hadn't had any flare ups at all.
