Hi Sisters! First, let me thank you all for being so supportive!
Went to castle at 7:30 am for 9:30 surgery, checked in and put in lovely gown and slippers. I had to wait in pre-op longer than expected and asked for a shot to calm me because I was getting freaked out. No sooner than given shot, . About 30 minutes later was woken up to start IV, and about 10 minutes after that wheeled into pre-op holding-recovery room. Started to  uncontrolably due to fear.
My mom and boyfriend were allowed in to hold my hand and soothe me. Doc came in and said it was time, so Off I went.
Was given a spinal block and something in IV and I was out like a light. Didn't feel or hear a thing which is what I was afraid of most. Surgical staff was great.
Woke up in recovery in the most pain and asked for med and promptly got it. Very hazy but was given quite a few doses of meds adn ice chips before going to room.
Most of Friday is a haze axcept getting catheter removed in am and being made to get up. OUCH! had no problem peeing by myself, felt like every hour that I had to call someone to help me up to go! Air boots were removed because I was able to get up and walk with the nurse or my mom.
Morpine pump made me so ill had to get a few shots of Phenagran so I wouldn't get .
Day staff was great, night staff stunk! Two roomates from hell, one senile and needed more supervision than she had, and the other was dysfunction junction! Doc came in Saturday and said I was doing really well and that I could go home that day. I wasn't sure but the roomate situation was making me nuts and I just wanted some undisturbed rest. Home now and doing ok.
