I had a TVH for Pelvic Pain. I have always had major problems with my cycles. It was after the birth of my twins that my condition progressed and needed to be addressed. Fatigue, irregular bleeding, constant sever PMS, severe and constant lower back pain, bowel problems, painful intercourse, spotting and severe cramps.

I have tried all the alternaltives to treating my condition, which took all of three years, before deciding on a hyst. I believe this and surrounding myself around postive people for support contribute my great experience.

I was due to have my surgery on June 22nd at 2:30pm. When I got to the check in, I was informed that the surgery schedule was behind 4 + hours. I was taken to a patient lobby and met a wonderful lady who happened to be having a hyst and by my doctor. We quickly became aquainted and chatted to pass the time. I was then taken to my pre-op room to change into my lovely gown and footies. I was weighed in, had my vitals checked and history was taken. My ob came up to have me sign a consent on what was actually going to happen in the OR. I was then wheeled down to the holding area to meet with the anesthesiologist. I also met the assistant who would be helping my ob in the surgery. She discussed the entire surgery, drew me diagrams of how the surgery would be performed and answered any last minute questions. The anesthesiologist took my history, current medicines, history of health conditions and explained my choices between an epidural or being put under with anesthetic. I chose being put under. Then, I was given my nice happy drugs and wheeled into the OR. I was no sooner on the table and I was out. The next thing I remember is being in my hospital room being asked to scoot over on to my bed. I slept the entire night until morning.

I had a very uneventful surgery. The only thing that happened was I had an ashtma attack while I was intabated. I was told before surgery that this likely happens to asthmatics. I had oxygen on througout the night only to make my breathing easier. My ashtma was not under great control before the surgery and my allergies had been flaring up probably contributing to my attack.

When I awoke, I was told adhesions were found and removed and that everything went well. I was amazed at how well I felt and that my pain was very minimal. I was given your typical bland diet for the first day..which I didn't eat much of due to a little nausea from the anesthetic and wanting to sleep. By the next day, I was better and eating real food and even walking around on my own. I had so much energy, I was floored. Even my ob commented on how much color I had in my face. I had my surgery on Thursday night and went home Saturday morning.

My whole experience was a great one. A few of my local hystersisters came to visit me. That was nice having their support and understanding. I feel that my whole experience was a good one because I did a lot of research, tried all my alternatives and discussed all my fears with my OB. I have no regrets about my decision and went in this surgery knowing it is a major one and knew the complications that could arise. I kept a postive attitude, surrounded myself with postive people for support and never looked back. Knowledge is power! This site was among many of my learning tools. Use it wisely!
