Well, I am home and recovering, so I thought I would post about my surgery and stay.

I checked in dark and early Monday morning, up before the chickens. Everything was pretty much uneventful. They have a really hard finding my veins for the IV, they hide too well! Finally, they stuck one a tiny one in my hands, enough to get me knocked out, then they put in a bigger one in surgery. I didn't feel that nervous, saw my Dr. in pre-op, he looked so cute in his stylish scrubs! The Anesth. gave me a shot to relax me, and that was it.....next thing I know I am in recovery. My first question was what all was taken....Everything.....and could I have ice chips.....not yet. I remember having pain and being so groggy. The ride up to my room felt like riding Space Mountain....dark and bumpy! Thank God my Mom was there to help me. She gave me a washcloth that was nice and cool over my eyes. Had a morphine pump in the room. That was nice. Later I started itching really bad, so the next day they switched me to Demerol and gave me Benedryl for the itching.

2nd day, they got me up and around. Got to take a shower..Nirvana!. By the evening, they took away my IV, catheter and pain pump. Then when onto Vicodin. That made me nauseous and I heaved up what little was in my stomach.

Came home on 4th day. Everything has been uneventful. My uterus was huge! I mean really huge...Dr. took a picture, it looks like a basketball...no wonder I hurt.

I have to say, I was so fortunate in my hospital care. All of the nurses were awesome. From Pre-op to room, they were just all exceptional. My Dr. put me in the women's wing, there were 4 others in, all post birth. It was quiet and peaceful. When I left the hospital, we went through the medical wing, which was noisy and crowded. I was so glad to have been cocooned!

Now the only hurdle left to clear is the results of a breast lump needle biopsy done while I was in. Have had a lump for 2 years that hasn't changed shape or moved or been painful. It showed up after a off-road motorcycle accident, where my right breast was crushed under a riders big foot. They think it's a hematoma, but better safe than sorry. Will probably have to have it removed soon.

So, I am being a good princess. Resting in my rented hospital bed, which was the smartest thing to do for me. Soo comfy! Drinking lots of water, eating lightly and resting alot.

In order to retain my good Princess status, I should probably log off and rest now.

I am so happy to be over the "waiting" hump and be a Princess!

Love, Lanette
