The night before my surgery I was so nervous. I fell asleep around 11 but woke up at 2am with my heart beating rapidly, it stayed that way off and on until I finally got up at 5:30. I did the required fleet enema, not much happened since I had been "cleansing" the day before. I took my shower and dried my hair, was actually feeling calmer. My DH and I left after saying goodbye to my two sleeping DD's. We had to stop for my DH to get his coffee fix and arrived at the castle 15 min. early. I was to arrive at 8:30. I waited for them to call me in until 9:15. My DH waited while I changed and answered some questions from my nurse. Everyone was so nice!! I told everyone that came to talk to me that I was really nervous. I met the anesthesiologist(sp) she was great and my DD came and asked how I was- of course I said nervous! I met so many great women that I'm not sure who they all were! Anyway the one with the "good" stuff came and I soon felt a lot calmer. They told me I would walk with them to the operating room! I said goodbye to DH and we walked!! There were at least 3 of us and I remember making a joke and we laughed-can't remember what I said! I scooted onto the table and the room was filled with women-not one guy in site. I woke up in recovery in tremendous pain. Got the morphine immediately and was soon in my room. Groggy most of the afternoon-lots of pain but given meds as needed. I walked later that night and asked DD if I could go home next day-she said she didn't see why not- I was doing well- no complications. I left the castle the next afternoon around 1 and have been pampered ever since. This is long but an accurate account of my visit!! From a very nervous patient who managed well. Thanks to everyone at this wonderful site. I really can say that I was helped by all the encouragement I read here. Glad it is over!!!!! Kathy
