Hi,it was nov1999,emergency,had lots of bleeding, almost permanently,no days off, cycle all over the place, very ill, loads pain.Hyst was bad experience 4 me,i stopped breathing post op on injection of heperin(since got epilepsy)on oxygen 3 days.i had TAH leaving left overy(too young for HRT) Gyn felt best option.cysts on r/side were 12,24 &28mm.dia.Put on HRT(after a lot of persuasion by me) about July 2002,1mgOestrodiol(climavel)Thought great, the flushes/sweats unbearable, moods were worse than pmt!would subside, they did for about 6months got bad again and worse than before,dr increased dose to 2mg per day, been taking that for 4wks now, seemed to have worked, BUT this week starting all over again! I don't get it?Emotionally been bad, as hubby & I were hoping for baby of ours(we had a son die at 19wks gestation Nov 1996)so a number of emotions going on-it became impossible(even assisted) to get preg again. This hard enough without loosing my 'womanhood'on top.Even if no Hyst, would've meno cause i was already pre meno,my mum was through hers by 40yrs,i 'm 40 now(41 next wk)which explained lack of ovulation.Hormone levels were way gone off scale!!

At time of op, i remember coming round in recovery,in absolute agony(sorry) i was on morphene,i was closly watched cause of pre op episode, i kept having 'fits' post op,never ever had this problem before, no family history, i stopped breathing long enough for there to be slight damage to my left temporal lobe of brain, hence epilepsy, so i lost one part of me and gained another problem instead, not good!!

My BP was very low and so were my stats,i hve low BP since, at times it just drops,i faint and fit. so i feel really hard done by through this, i know no one was to know i was going to have allergic reaction to the drug, never had it before, but i still feel cheated.

To cap it all, this all happened on our baby's anniversary,i have suffered depression since (not surprising).& all just before xmas,i did my xmas shopping in a wheelchair,i had infection in wound, which delayed recovery, for 6 or 7 wks i was off my feet, i was just so unsafe and unstable, well at least i did't hve to do xmas dinner that yr!!

I have 3 children from 1st marriage(widowed in 1992) my middle daughter, at same time told us she was pregnant, we have a lovely grandaughter, who is now two and half.so as you can see a lot of different emotions going through my head all at the same time, although hubby was great(re married March 1996) he couldn't understand, i really did feel i was on my own, and no one understood!

I can see you all doing the maths now! i married first when i was 17yrs old, had children straight away, who are now 22,21,&20 at present, two eldest girls, youngest a son. Widowed at 30yrs old, still young enough to have a 2nd family, but not to be.this is what was so devastating to us, we really wanted to have 'our' baby i know we did, but he did not live. I never for a moment think i would have to have hysterectomy at such a young age, but my inners were in such a mess since the baby,it had to be.

I now am having pains in my left side,i just wondered if the cysts had returned, is that possible after a hysterectomy?

Just the thought of having to have another op really scares the hell out of me!!! The pain not too bad but familiar all the same.

Well i think i've wrote far too much already, so i won't bore you sisters anymore, this just gives you all some insight into my situation,i havn't really recovered yet 3yrs down the line, i think the reality is only starting to hit me, it has all been delayed because of the epilepsy etc,now my head is clearing i can see it all for what it is now,i am on antidepresants also, which i think are helping, but i have a lot of 'work' to do in sorting out my emotions with regards the hysterectomy,i have started seeing a counsellor now, which is helping, and now i have my new sisters here, so thank you for taking the time to read 'my story' hope it hasn't put you all off!!!

Looking forward to hearing from you soon
Hugs
Hazel
