I'm scheduled for a hysterectomy. I'd like to get control over all the bulging tummy problems. Is the tummy tuck an option?

Absolutely! This is something to discuss with your surgeon prior to your pre-op appointment.

Because insurance usually doesn't cover a tummy tuck, its a good idea to have it done following your abdominal hysterectomy while you are still under anesthesia.

This does take planning. Choose a plastic surgeon and make an appointment to discuss your idea. The plastic surgeon will then coordinate with the surgeon doing your hysterectomy. They will both be in the operating room, managing their part of your procedures.

Some HysterSisters report financing the extra tummy tuck through the plastic surgeon's office. Others make a trip to the bank for a loan. This additional procedure during your hysterectomy is reported to be priced around $5,000 or more.

Many HysterSisters report that their clothes fit again and they are glad they made the decision.

Of course, not every woman comes through a hysterectomy with an ugly belly. At first all abdominal surgery creates a swollen tummy. But, as healing takes place, the swelling goes down and the tummy takes the shape it was before surgery.

HysterSisters are encouraged to get back into a healthy exercise plan including eating properly, dropping unnecessary weight in order to regain a body you can enjoy with or without a tummy tuck!
