My recovery seems to be going very well. I'm at three weeks post-op from my hysterectomy and have more and more energy. But I'm finding that at the end of the day, my tummy is swollen and very sore. Yesterday I went to the mall and out to lunch with friends. Did I do too much? Why is my tummy swollen more today than it was at one week post-op?

Ouch! Sounds like a bit too much activity for your healing body.

Take care of yourself and give yourself time to heal. Each day you will gather more and more energy together. Just be careful not to "spend" it all in one place, all in one day.

With any type of hysterectomy (whether abdominal or vaginal or laproscopic), organs were removed and tissue was sutured. Healing must take place.

And when your body is trying to heal, it must be rested.

Listen to your body and rest when you aren't feeling well. Some days you might feel as though you are taking two steps forward only to experience "one step backward" the next day.

Hang in there! And be sure and contact your doctor's office with any questions you have for any symptoms and concerns you have for a swollen tummy in particular if you are running fever and if your belly is hot and painful.
