You Are Invited to the Hyster Ball

Once upon a time in the Land of Hyster each of the hyster sisters went out to their mailbox to pick up their mail. This was one of the most important parts of the day for most princesses. A trip to the mailbox meant two things: One....getting out of the house for a brief exercise and Two.....perhaps the mailbox would contain a surprise. And so, this day as the sisters approached the mailboxes with anticipation each of the mailboxes in the Land of Hyster held a wonderful surprise. There, in golden envelopes with purple writing, were invitations from the king:

You are invited to the Hyster Ball

Saturday Night 8:00

Bring a date

Music will be provided by "The King's Orchestra"

"YOOHOO" Princess Lou yelled and waved to another princess who was opening her invitation at the exact same time. "DId you get it? Did you get the invitation?"

Nodding and waving her invitation in the air Princess Ellie answered. "Oh yes! Oh yes!" she answered. "A Ball. Oh my! A Ball! What kind of dress does that mean? Do you think our night gowns will work? Do you suppose I could fit into my high school prom dress?"

Princess Yolanda came running up the street, holding her tummy with her invitation in her hand. "What shall I wear? What shall I wear? I can't think of ONE single thing in my closet that would be right for such a royal event. What shall I wear?"

Soon, one by one the hyster sisters began running to each other's houses double checking to see if they all had received an invitation. They each stood in front of each other's closets taking in the view, grabbing a dress and helping each other try on the dresses that hung there. One by one they pulled on the dresses. One by one they inhaled as they tried to zip the zippers and hook the hooks. One by one they sighed. In fact all over the Land of Hyster a gigantic sigh was heard.

The King, chuckling to himself, went on with his preparations. He ordered the food: Crepe Sussets, Sweet Potato Pie, Chocolate Pecan Pies, Fudge Popsicles, and Raspberry Punch. He ordered millions of beautiful floral arrangements with lavender, white and pale pink roses that smelled like they were grown in heaven itself. He ordered twinkling lights and lace garlands to hang from the ceiling. He arranged for the Orchestra to play all the most beautiful music ever heard in the world. (He even ordered new uniforms in dark violet velvet for the orchestra members.) The kingdom hummed with all the arrangements. The cleaning force showed up and mopped and waxed the Ballroom floor. They sanitized the royal thrones in the powder room. They dusted the mantle. All week long the castle workers spent preparing for the Saturday night gig in the Ballroom. And all week long the hyster sisters ran to each other's houses trying to find something to wear.

On Saturday morning the doorbells rang at each of the Hyster Sister"s homes. There on the front porch sat boxes wrapped up in white paper and tied with purple bows. A tag was attached to each box with a name. In amazement each sister timidly opened each box and the squealing began across the Land of Hyster. Princess Lou found in her boxes, a lovely gown of teal that fit her perfectly with matching shoes and purse. Princess Ellie found a gown of magenta. Sitting on the front porch of her house, Princess Barb's gown and matching shoes and purse were a lovely shade of blue. Princess Yolanda unwrapped a gown of dark red. Princess Lisa's dress was a lovely shade of green. All over the Land of Hyster, the sisters put on their gowns and discovered, to their joy, the gowns fit them perfectly just as if they had been made to order. (This is a very curious matter, indeed. Finding clothing to fit is a difficult situation as each day the body of a Punctured Princess or Lady in Waiting is bound to change drastically!!)

Once the sisters were all dressed, hair doos arranged and sprayed, make-up (night time version) applied, the door bells rang again. This time standing in their doorways were delivery men from the king's florist with a bouquet of roses for each sister. With the aroma of the bouquets filling the land, the sisters and their dates headed to the castle for the ball of their lives. Several of the sisters carpooled to the castle with Princess Cindy driving her car in splendor and glory. Other sisters walked to the castle since the night was perfect. (The king had ordered the stars to sparkle and the owls to hoot.)

The Ballroom in the castle was the most perfect setting in the entire world. The orchestra played the most beautiful music. The bouquets of roses gave beauty and perfumed fragrance. The food on the long table looked like photographs from Martha Stewart's magazine of culinary delights. The sisters and their dates spent the evening dancing, chatting and getting to know each other.

Near midnight, the king arose from his special throne where all evening long he had sat with a huge smile on his face. Clearing his throat he waved his arms in the air and the orchestra stopped playing. "Hyster Sisters," he began, "I wanted you to know something very important. This is why I arranged for this ball tonight. As you look around, I arranged for the most beautiful of everything: The music. The flowers. The food. The twinkle lights and lace decorations. The night stars. Even your gowns. I wanted you to see everything that was beautiful all together, all at the same time so I could tell you this: You, dear Hyster Sisters, are more beautiful than all this. You are beautiful on the inside. You are caring, loving, and tender with each other. You rejoice when your sisters are joyful. You cry and grieve when your sisters are sad. Your lovely ways are so evident that I wanted your surroundings to be beautiful, too. That is why I prepared this Hyster Ball for you all. I wanted the beauty around you to match the beauty within you." And with those glorious words, the king sat down.

The Hyster Sisters still in amazement at the entire evening began to dance and thank the king. One by one they curtsied before the king, hugged his neck and kissed his cheek. "Thank you so much, king!" they each whispered in his ear. After all the neck hugging and cheek kissing, the dancing continued until the last star sparkled and faded into the morning light. Hugging each other tightly, the sisters all went home to their pillows with a wonderful smile on their lips.

And they all lived happily ever after and were hormonally balanced ever after. The End.
