Subject: Going Gray??

HI all, i have more gray hair! dr said this wouldnt happen. i had huby helping me pull out the hair this am! this estrace is making me have dreams of sweets, dont preganant women have strange dreams? i dont want to start coloring my hair at age 34. im gonna have big talk with dr next month, she said i wouldnt turn gray because im on hrt. of all things to worry about, getting gray! soft hugs, tara

Hi Tara. I have never heard of the gray hair thing - has anyone else? It kind of doesn't make sense - HRT is supposed to keep you young by keeping the estrogen in your body. I wonder if it's a by-product of the anesthesia? I totally made that up - it's based on nothing that I know - except that I lost a lot of hair for a while after the surgery and several people told me at the time that it was a by-product ofanesthesia, maybe the gray too? Nancy

Hi Tara... just go get your hair colored... lightened perm... like the commercial says: you're worth it!!!!

Twyla <-- BLONDER every day (hee hee)

Tara,

Haven't you heard the old saying that for every 1 gray hair you pull out, 7 grow back? You better be careful!!! LOL

You know, my hair has been turning gray/white for some time now. Somebody told me that I should color my hair to hide the gray. I told him no way--each gray hair was a badge of honor that I had earned--I like my gray streaks.

Does HRT turn hair gray? I hadn't heard that. I'll be interested to hear what your dr. says.

Good luck and be careful how many hairs you pull out!!

MaryAnne

Tara,

I've been noticing more gray lately, too. Don't know if it's hrt or age--I'm 47. But if you have to color--let me tell you the neatest thing I'm found. I'm sure you've heard of "Sun Glitz"--kinda like frosting your hair but much better & you can put several different shades so it looks natural. Well, my beautician suggested I sun glitz in reverse and instead of putting lighter shades in to add highlights of a lighter color----she added several

different shades of DARKER so the gray I have looks like it is the frosting!!!! It worked great--in fact, next time I'm going to go even darker and maybe all the gray will be hidden.

Not that you will need this info--but wanted to share a new discovery that really works!!!

Hi Tara,

Actually, I don't think it is the HRT that causes gray hair, but lack of the right "normal levels" of hormones that may be the culprit. I think when our bodies stop producing the right stuff the pigment in our hair leaves. So, I do think that surgical menopause may cause earlier gray hair. But, this is just my humble opinion!
