Thursday morning I got up at 5, my 9 year old was up already, scared that I would leave without telling him. I had my shower and finished packing, woke DH and then we were on our way to the castle, which is 30 mins away.
We got there and I got registered, waited for a porter to take me to my suite. When I got in my suite the nurse came right in and told me to put on my gown and cap. I did that and had my vitals done, on the stretcher and off we went. When I got down to the waiting room outside the OR my Gyn came to talk to me and then low and behold my family Dr walked around the curtain, was I ever happy to see him. They took me in the OR and the sleepy Dr put in my IV, gave me a shot in it and told me it was time to get sleepy, that's the last I heard.
I recall someone talking to me in recovery, calling my name and telling me my operation was over, next thing I knew I was trying to move from the stretcher to my bed. The rest of the day I was in and out. They took the cath out when I asked them too, but then low and behold I couldn't pee! They cathed me at 11pm just to drain my bladder, after we tried all the normal tricks. When they got me up at 3am I was finally able to pee.
The next day my Dr came in and told me that they didn't have to take my ovaries, but did have to take one tube. My bladder was stuck right to my uterus, making it look like my uterus was enlarged. They took out my IV later that day. By evening I was starving, they still had me on a liquid diet, so I begged for toast and the nurse told me I could go make some.
Saturday, day 2, I was up and around by 8, washed my hair and got dressed. The nurses were all laughing at me because they were so sure that I wouldn't be allowed to go home yet. The Dr came in about 1:30 and I was home by 2:15.
The gas pains are the worst. I've been near tears more than once. Other than that, I'm doing okay. I know it's a long road ahead of me, and I'm trying to be a good princess and not over do it.
So that's my story!
