My name is Lynn. I was born in 1960. I live in Neenah, Wisconsin. Neenah is 30 miles south of Green Bay and about 90 miles north of Milwaukee.

My husband and I were high school sweethearts and married in 1977. My husband is a computer programmer/analyst for a large corporation in our area. I have two daughters; Sara, born in 1978 and Amanda, born in 1980. Sara is married, lives in Minneapolis, and is a registered nurse. Amanda is recently married and will soon graduate with her degree in nursing also.

I was a stay at home mom until the girls were in school and then I returned to college. I worked in finance for over 20 years; primarily with trusts, endowments, and pensions. In December 2001 I officially retired to do full time ministry and mission work.

I enjoy reading, cross-stitch, gardening, taking long walks, going to the beach and road trips in my Mustang. I have pet cockatiels and parakeets.

From the time I started my periods at age 12 I have always dreaded “that time of the month”. I always had heavy bleeding and severe cramps. I usually missed a day or two of school every month. I had both my daughters by C-Section (vertical incision). The first was an emergency C-Section and the second was a repeat C-Section. I had my tubes tied with the second C-Section. I continued to have heavy, painful periods. I tried birth control pills to attempt to keep the bleeding and pain minimal without success. I had a D & C at age 30 which helped for about a year. The bleeding gradually got worse again. I had endometrial ablation at age 38. I was done having babies so the removal of the uterine lining seemed like a reasonable and non-invasive procedure. The ablation surgery went well and I had no bleeding or pain for almost two years. I did know that there was a possibility that I may still need a hysterectomy in the future because although the uterine lining was gone, some of the fibroids had grown into the muscle wall of the uterus and could get larger again. The bleeding did begin again; it started gradually and eventually got worse until I was bleeding two weeks out of four. I had a LAVH on 2/8/02. My uterus and cervix were removed, I kept both ovaries.

I happened to find the HysterSisters site “by accident”. One day, early in my hysterectomy recovery I was online sarching for recovery support and came across the site. Of course, I don’t think anything in life is an “accident”. I think God has a plan and purpose for everything.

I hope I can encourage and support someone else the way I have been. HysterSisters has proven to be an awesome "ministry experience” for me.
