Hi all and Welcome to Hystersisters!
My real name is Jody. I chose the name "fitbug" because I love fitness and the VW Bug! The first car I owned was a 1968 Beetle. I have owned 3 other Beetles. Currently I am driving a 2000 version.
I am 45. Been married 23 years and have 2 children. My daughter is 21, married and currently carrying my first Grandson. His name will be Portland Bradly and is due the first of April. My son is 18 and will be heading off to boot camp on May 14th. He was sworn into the United States Air Force on February 27th.
My husbands job as an air traffic controller has allowed me to stay home to raise my children. It has been one of the greatest blessings God has given me. My daughter says how she wants to be able to stay home with her children also because of how much it meant to her that I did. WOW!
Three years ago my gyn found a fibroid tumor and told me it was nothing. Same with the next year. Well November of 99 my back started giving me fits, and my belly seemed to be swelling and my periods were horrible blood clots. No flow just clots. I usually have my gyn appointment around my birthday in January (so I remember to schedule it). But this year I didn't call for the appointment until March. Couldn't get in until April. As soon as he started the exam he said "OH Well that has to come out!" So I asked "What?" He said the uterus and cervix. I was anaemic so he put me on 3 tabs of iron per day and iron shots for the next 2 weeks. I went on birth control also so I could reserve all my blood. I couldn't even donate my own blood if I needed a transfusion. When I went back for the consultation with my hubby, my Dr told us the fibroid was about basketball size. He said there was no other way than to remove it abdominally, vertical incision. I was beginning to panic at this time and wished I had never wished I could have a hysterectomy. He said because of the size of the fibroid he would have to cut from above my navel and around and all the way down. I hated the thought of this too. As it turned out he cut from about 1/2 inch below the navel. The alien (as one of my clients named it) was about honeydew melon size. It weighed 2.5 lbs. I am grateful to have that out of my body. My hubby took photos of it. WHEW! it is amazing.
I am a personal trainer and instruct fitness classes. Stability ball and pilates are my specialties. I have been a personal trainer for 4 years. Worked with many obese clients and with many people who are just getting started in their fitness program. It is a very fulfilling career. I have been a fitness instructor now for 6 years. There is nothing like getting a group of folks exercising, working hard, enjoying it and coming back for more.
In October or 2001 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I had just taken on a new job as The Fitness Director of a brand new facility. They were sad about my condition but excited about the possibilities of the help we could offer the community. My heart for fitness now is to help those who need to move because movement has become so difficult for them.
I found Hystersisters 2 weeks after my surgery. Everyone has been so helpful and loving. God has led me down many paths since my surgery. Hystersisters has been a sweet one. I spend much time here reading posts and getting more information and trying to give a kind word or a touch of comfort. Everyone's advice has been extremely helpful to me. And knowing I wasn't out there alone, brought great peace.
It is a special honor for me to be involved with everyone here at Hystersisters and with Kathy who started the whole thing. God Bless you all.
I am a hostess on the Prayer Request Forum and Hysteritaville. Please check out Hysteritaville.com for my fitness pages.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Proverbs 3:4,5
God Bless you.
Lovingly,
Jody / fitbug
