Tales of My Hysterectomy
Hello! My name is Judy Wilson, and I live in Toronto, Ontario Canada! I am 34 years old, and had my LAVH/BSO on Nov/2/00. Bob and I do not have any children, but we do have two lovely nieces, and four nephews that we spoil immensely!
Bob and I are collectors of antique toys. You can often find us out at shows, flea markets, garage sales or lurking on eBay for that spectacular piece to add to our collection! Our hobby got so expensive that we've started selling as well!
My troubles started when I got my first period. I remember my Mum giving me a half of a pain pill, which left me crying for days! As the months went on, my Mum took me to the Doctors who claimed that some women just have painful periods. I was put on prescription pills at a very young age. They worked for a while, but the pain just got worse. When I was a teenager, I missed a lot of school and social events. The pain only increased as I got older. I went through several periods that lasted for months on end. I found out that I had cysts that ruptured, and then came back. Even through all of this I wasn't referred to a gyn until about 2 years ago. The gyn decided to take a look and do a lap, even though she didn't think I showed the typical symptoms for Endometriosis. At this point I was experiencing pain almost everyday of the month, and had to do something. She did a Lap and found severe Endo, and did what she could to clean me up. I then started taking Lupron, but had to go off of that. Another few laps, and then a referral to another gyn. The Endo just kept returning, within a month of surgery. The new gyn suggested another look. He found more Endo than before and we discussed a Hysterectomy. This was a very scary move for me since I have always wanted a family. After some consideration, lots of prayer, and a great deal of pain, I decided to go for it. It was during this time that a friend pointed me towards hystersisters. I found myself glued to the message boards, overjoyed at finding a place to discuss all of my pre-op fears. It has been several months since my surgery, and I'm still getting so much from this site.
To date (March 2001), I am still experiencing pain. I don't know if the Endo has returned or if there are other problems. I do have Fibromyalgia, and it has been suggested that my abdominal pain could be the cause of it. I am going ahead with many more tests in hopes of finding the answers!
