Hi, I'm harley, a Valentine princess. For the last five years, I have been happily married to the love of my life, Rich, and we have two very spoiled black cats. Lucky and Ollie really run the household, and we cater to their every whim. I do not have any children, but have a perfect granddaughter through marriage! My husband and I are members of the Catholic Church, and are Eucharistic Ministers at our local parish. My faith has gotten me through a lot of hard times

My husband and I are also proud owners of Harley-Davidson motorcycles (a bagger and a Wide Glide) and we ride every weekend and take our vacations around the different bike events. So far, I have been to Hollister, Daytona, and Laughlin, and intend to do Sturgis in 2002. We live in Dago, which is San Diego to the non-motorcycling world. We truly "live to ride" and really enjoy our time on the scoots. I have also turned my niece, nephews, and granddaughter into junior "scooter trash" who have all manner of H-D clothing and toys.

My journey to become a HysterSister began 12 years ago. I had always had difficult periods, and after my blood disorder was diagnosed in my teens, had a tubal ligation to prevent pregnancy. (At the time, it was thought that I would bleed to death if I tried to deliver a child.) I accepted this, and as I went into my mid-twenties, my periods became much, much worse. I was diagnosed with endometriosis. I cannot take birth-control pills or any hormone therapy containing estrogen because of my blood disorders (I developed phlebitis too!) I had the first of four laparascopy/laser surgeries to remove the endometriosis. After the second laser/lap, I was put into the first of three artificial menopauses with Synarel . Depo-Provera and Lupron were also tried. After my fourth laser/lap, two years ago, I told my doctor, "LetŐs stop this. If the endo comes back in two years like it always does for me, next time do a hysterectomy". Because of my age, my doctor hesitated, then agreed.

Fast-forward to December 2000Ńthe pain has been back for six months. I sat down with my doctor, and we decided that at 38 it was time for me to quit having laser/laps every six months. I had tried just about everything for endo (except for ablation) and every time I had laser/laps, more scar tissue and adhesions and endo lesions were found. Time for the hyst! I was losing lots of time at work due to the severe pain and back problems (more on that later) and it was also preventing me from riding my beloved Harley, and I was sick of it. My dear husband was also terrified to have sex because it caused me so much pain. Now, work is one thing, but do not get between me and my dear husband, or me and my scoot!

On February 14, 2001, I had a TAH, with my ovaries remaining since I am not a candidate for HRT. If the endo recurs, there is an option of a BSO via laparascopy. I had adenomyosis of the uterus, which was enlarged to twice the normal size, and endo EVERYWHERE, including on my bowels and the posterior ligaments of my uterus. This somehow was pressing on the nerves in my lower back, giving me the killer back pain.

I am much happier since my hysterectomy. I feel that I gave the treatments for endo the "old college try", but 12 years of pain was enough. My life is better, and the boss, my husband, and my scoot all get a lot more of me than they used to!

Best, harley
