Hello! I knew Hyster Sisters and I were a good fit when I got my registered name, LindaJean. That is actually my name and usually every combination I can think of is already taken; my Mom managed to name me the most popular name of 1949! I have done just about the same with my two daughters: Meghan (15) and Sarah (13). Oh, well, find a trend and I am usually right in the middle of it! Case in point: Hyster Sisters. I registered in early January of 2001 and have seen the site change and grow amazingly already. I was honored to receive my invitation to be a Hostess and will do my very best!

I was born and raised in Wyoming, attended college at Casper College, the University of Wyoming, Western Washington University, and the University of South Florida, lived in Florida for nine years, and recently moved to the Four Corners area. I am glad I have had the experience of living in three vastly different environments in this great country. Now I need to move to Maine for a while and maybe southern California to get all four corners of the continent...or maybe not. Since I married my husband in 1980, we have moved 9 times and I am ready to settle somewhere! More than ready!!

For many years I worked in various office jobs. When we moved to Florida, I took an opportunity to return to college at the University of South Florida, Sarasota Campus and got my degree in secondary social science education. I am now teaching 7th grade in a middle school and enjoying it a lot. This is my sixth year teaching and I have taught 11th grade US History, 10th grade World History, 9th grade Career Research and Critical Thinking (all in a high school in FL), 9th grade Chemistry and Physics, 8th grade Earth Science (I am certified in science as well through my first degree in geology), and now 7th grade Geography/New Mexico History. Talk about an old dog NEEDING to learn new tricks!! I must have more newly formed synapses than I have old ones...just don't ask me to change phone companies so I might have learn a new calling card number...no way!! I really enjoy teaching and am only sorry I waited so long to jump in. It's not always easy but it is never, never boring!! My husband is a professor at the college level, teaching economics and finance. This is a real bonus because we have summers off together and can get out and about, camping and hiking. My husband was an instructor for the National Outdoor Leadership School for many years before we married so I am in the process of learning to love camping and backpacking. Also skiing. Which brings me to my hysterectomy.

I had various perimenopausal problems since 1992. The major one was periods that went on and on and on...and on. So I started learning about all kinds of new things: endometrial biopsies, chemical D&Cs, Provera, hyperplasia, fibroids, surgical D&Cs, birth control pills taken not for birth control...sound familiar? I also watched parts of my life disappear...hiking and camping became iffy, skiing completely disappeared this season since I had a period for 2 months and then didn't feel in-shape enough to go; I had to leave work due to episodes of 'flooding' -- not cool in front of 30 or so seventh graders! Luckily for me, when I made the decision to consider surgery, my wonderful doctor agreed completely and so did insurance, since I had been through the therapy mill already.

I had my TVH/BSO on 2/26/2001. As I write this, I am still recovering and don't have my life back totally yet. But already I feel better and can hardly believe I won't have a period sneak up on me! Guess it will take a while to really sink in! I am very honored to be a part of Hyster Sisters; it truly an amazing site and I am grateful for all the wisdom, help and support I have received (also some big laughs!!) I hope I can give back a little bit of what I have received.
