Hi! I'm Lola. I am truly honored to be a part of this wonderful website!
I live in Texas with my husband Randy, who will soon be ordained into the ministry. (Of course I've agreed to shelve the leather mini-skirt, fishnet stockings and cowboy boots…FOR NOW!) He is currently a stated supply pastor at a church in Chico, Texas. We have two wonderful sons, ages 20 & 16. Both boys are involved in sports thus I am their token cheerleader…Rah Rah Shish Boom Bah!! I'll admit that I'm a baseball mom through and through.
Growing up a military brat, I have lived in Washington State, California, Hawaii and Japan. When my dad retired from the service, we moved back to Texas, where he had been raised. My brother and I became "true" Texans. I learned how to ride a horse and began competing in rodeos as a barrel racer, calf roper, and team roper. I even learned how to do the Rodeo Queen wave and I entered the arena during Queen events! I now consider that I may have just been in training for my current "Princess" role! Alas, as marriage and children came into my life, I no longer rodeo, but hope to again soon.
I have 20+ years of banking and operations experience, but now work for an Art Conservation firm. The firm restores art for major museums and private collectors. It is a very fascinating and fulfilling job, but I hope to one day fulfill my dream and complete my degree in Criminal Justice and social work. Helping others is a big part of my life and I feel that my calling is to become a licensed counselor. Hystersisters.com has provided me with so much insight and practice for the future, and I'm truly grateful!
I found the Hystersisters site like so many others as I was frantically trying to find information on hysterectomies. In 1998, Excessive bleeding took over my life. (That's with a capital E!!) My doctor tried many options before suggesting a hysterectomy…Depo Provera, D&C, BC pills, Premarin and even an endometrial ablation, still with no relief, we opted for a LAVH/BSO with bladder tack (with a supra pubic catheter) in September of 2000.
Finding this website, I scoured the message boards reading and absorbing all of the information that I could find. The search option became my friend! J The support of the hostesses and membership became my sanity.
Speaking of friends, I have made so many wonderful friendships here. The love and care shown by all of the sisters still amazes me.
