My name is RobinC, and I will be your hostess if you are on "The Road Less Traveled," or just looking for "Options and Alternatives." I had my surgery in November of 1999 at the age of 35.

I have one daughter, and a wonderfully supportive DH. I have a yellow lab named Crystal, who joined our family in June of 2000. I love hiking, camping, computers, puzzles of any kind, snowmobiling, crocheting, cross-stitch, and NASCAR races.

I have had many gyn problems throughout my life. Periods for me, since the age of 11, have always meant time away from school or work. The cramping, clotting, bleeding, passing out, migraines, etc.…made leaving the house near impossible for at least the first day of each cycle. I have tried many things to deal with all of this, BCP, IVPx2, and Ultrasounds, just to name a few.

While pregnant with my daughter I went into premature labor. I was on home bed rest for 3 months. After 8 separate trips to the hospital, she was born. In hindsight realize this was most likely due to the adenomyosis. She would start the contractions when she hit certain areas inside my uterus. Doctor agrees that this is very possible.

Skip ahead a few years. August 1997. I had a lot of unexplainable pain on my lower left side. Pulling, burning, aching, and at times, stabbing. Was told by one OB/GYN, "It's all in your head!" Needless to say he was fired quickly. After a battery of tests, spanning 6 months, I walked into a new OB/GYN's office. 20 minutes later I walked out with a pamphlet on Adhesions, a pamphlet on getting my tubes tied, and a pamphlet on Diagnostic Laproscopic Surgery. 2 weeks later I was recovering from adhesion removal from my fallopian tube andbowels.

Skip ahead 2 more years…. August 1999. I start to hemorrhage; the pain in my side is back, only now I can feel it on both sides and I have suddenly lost my ability to control my bladder. Back to the doctor's office. Another battery oftests, another Diagnostic Lap. No adhesions, but this strange word, Adenomyosis. Oh yeah, and I need a hysterectomy. I get online to find out about this strange word. I "met" LisaM at the Adenomyosis Sufferers Forum at Delphi.com. She referred me here. I have never left!

I had a TAH/BS/MMK on 11/19/99. I did have Adenomyosis, plus a prolapsed bladder, and thrown in for some extra fun, cysts on my fallopian tubes.

The women here that helped me through the nerve wracking days pre-op, prepared me for post-op, and helped me to deal with the postponement of my surgery, can never be thanked enough. I became a hostess to help repay the kindness that was shown to a very scared woman last year.
